Description from the Publisher
Although primarily known for his paintings and drawings, Cy Twombly has been engaged with sculptures since the earliest days of his career.
This volume represents 117 sculptures and 30 casts, spanning 1946 to 1997, most of which have never been outside the artist’s studio.
The singular nature of Cy Twombly’s sculpture is an uncommon spirit of creativity which vibrates through time and memory. The works evoke a spectrum of emotion from the intimate to the exalted, the epic to the quotidian.
The Catalogue Raisonné of Sculpture Vol. I edited by Nicola Del Roscio is based on information and photographs gathered over many years with the artist. Text by Arthur Danto.
